What Are Eyelash Extensions?
Eyelash Extensions are a service that lengthens and thickens your own natural lashes. We use single or multiple strands of synthetic mink eyelashes that are curved to replicate a natural lash. They are applied to each individual eyelash with a specially designed bonding agent for a natural, beautiful and luscious look. Eyelash Extensions are perfect for that special occasion or for day-to-day wear. They are virtually weightless and will not damage your natural lash so you can choose to wear them indefinitely.
Will the application be harmful to my natural lashes?
Not at all! Our eyelash extensions are applied on your own natural eyelashes one by one (without touching the skin) with a specially designed bonding agent developed exclusively for eyelash extensions. This technique is not harmful to your natural eyelashes. The adhesive dries very soft on lashes allowing flexibility and comfort.
What do Eyelash Extensions look like when applied?
With proper application, meaning one synthetic eyelash applied to one natural lash, the look and feel is completely natural looking. No one will know you have extensions. They will just think you were born with beautiful, long, and luxurious lashes!
How long will a set of Eyelash Extensions last?
Just like your hair, eyelashes grow and fall out. In fact, we lose between 10 and 15 lashes every month. When applied properly, eyelash extensions will last the length of the natural growth cycle of your eyelashes. Everyone's experience will differ based on day to day activities but over all, touch-ups should only be required every 2 to 3 weeks. We recommend using our iLASH Care Longer-Life Coating Sealer ($20) to help keep your lashes conditioned and to extend the life of your lashes. This product is available for purchase at East Coast Glo.
How often should I get a fill?
We recommend getting a fill every 2 to 3 weeks. If you wait too long, your eyelash extensions will fall out and you will require a full set. A fill averages about 30 to 45 minutes.
Can I apply mascara to Eyelash Extensions?
Yes, even though mascara is not necessary because the extensions actually give the illusion of wearing mascara, it can be worn. It must however only be a water-based mascara. Care also needs to be taken in washing off the mascara. We highly recommend iLash Care Liquid Protein Remover Pads ($20/100 pads) to remove any eye makeup. This product is available for purchase at East Coast Glo.
Can I swim, shower, exercise, or visit a spa while wearing Eyelash Extensions?
Yes. The bonding agent we use is waterproof and allows you to shower, swim, and exercise. Special care is required but overall maintenance is low. We do recommend however that you do not wash your eye area for 24 hours after the initial eyelash application or enter a sauna or tanning bed for 48 hours after the initial application.
Can I use eyelash curlers with Eyelash Extensions?
We do not recommend using mechanical eyelash curlers on your eyelash extensions as these curlers will damage the extensions and possibly your own natural lashes. The extensions do have a natural curl so most people find they don't need to curl them further. However if you choose to curl your lashes, we recommend using a heated eyelash curler.
How do I choose the look I want?
Eyelash extensions are available in a number of lengths and thicknesses. We consult with you first to see what type of style you are interested in and we also determine what your lashes can hold in regards to length and size. Each person's lashes will vary so we take this into consideration when creating a look for you. The overall goal is for the lashes to look glamorous but natural.
How long does the application take?
Depending on the the number of lashes being applied, it generally takes between 1.5 - 2 hours to apply a full set of Eyelash Extensions. Touch-ups can be done in as little as 30 to 45 minutes.
I have no lashes at all, can i still wear eyelash extensions?
Because Eyelash Extensions are applied to existing natural lashes you must have some natural lashes to receive the procedure. Eyelash Extensions should not, and in many cases cannot, be applied to clients who have alopecia, are undergoing chemotherapy or those who suffer from Trichotillomania, unless and until the individual has received effective treatment and normal lash growth has resumed.
